Arvind Parashar’s latest work Messed Up! But all For Love is a story about love lost between two couples and themselves being tested by their own destiny.
Set in modern India, the story is about a couple, Gauri and Neil who used to lead a happily married life until a series of misfortunes create a void between them, thus, forcing them to pick their own separate ways. These series of misfortunes are displayed through flashbacks to a reader. Trust is often the root of relationships among humans and is showcased very well in this book in various forms.
The plot of the book starts at an interesting point. Arvind Parashar, the author, has a corporate background and it does help supporting characters through creating realistic environments such that a reader can easily relate too. It has its own high and low points. It becomes interesting at times that a reader will enjoy it immensely and on other occasions, I certainly felt that there are drag elements used to drive the storyline forward. However, one thing to note here is that Parashar does succeed in portraying the urban relationships (of contemporary India) and deciphering them in his words.
The characterisation in this book is good. Apart from the two main characters, there are plenty of characters explored in-depth (in terms of the scope of the storyline) and most of them play an important role. The extensive mixing of two languages such as Hindi with English as the base language is a turn off for me as it does confuses non-Hindi (or non-Hinglish) readers. Apart from that, the writing style is good enough to provide a solid foundation in terms of creating the suspense element out of words and driving the reader to keep turning pages.
I would recommend this book if you are looking to read a fiction/romance with some amount of surprises and suspense or a novel that is based in modern India. This novel might also serve as a small insight on urban relationships.

Note: I received this book from the author but that doesn’t mean my review is breaking any reviewing rules and I thank them for their effort with all my heart.
