Pages: 416, Kindle edition Published: August, 2011 (current edition) Cover Rating: 3/5 Goodreads | Buy from Amazon Last month was all about work and productivity. The older me (self two years ago) would be scared of the term of productivity. Since the start of this year, I am reading and learning about how in this new economy one can manage work-life balance and a lot depends on being productive since productivity is directly proportional to your well-being which comes from you being a happy person.

BOOK REVIEW: Tribe of Mentors – Short Life Advice from the Best in the World by Timothy Ferriss

Posted November 26, 2017 by @amanhimself in Book Reviews, Books / 7 Comments

Pages: 624, Kindle Edition Published: 21st November 2017, by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Cover Rating: 5/5 (hint: something is in symmetry, see carefully) I get excited when I hear Tim Ferriss is going to release a new book. The guy knows what to write, or at least how to present information in terms of mere words. Last year, I spent 18 days on his Tools of Titans which came out in the month of December. I haven’t spent more than 15 days on Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace and War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. Tim’s books tend to cover a vast amount of information that is not easy for a human brain to process. After putting my nose in his […]

Pages: 224, Kindle Edition Published: January 2002 Cover Rating: 3/5 “Long-term travel isn’t about being a college student; it’s about being a student of daily life. Long-term travel isn’t an act of rebellion against society; it’s an act of common sense within society. Long-term travel doesn’t require a massive “bundle of cash”; it requires only that we walk through the world in a more deliberate way.” Rolf Potts travelled more than 60 countries across six continents. He is the author of Vagabonding: An Uncommon Guide to the Art of Long-Term World Travel, a book that fascinated me a for long time before I decided to finally give it a read. All that excitement was worth.

“It’s been my experience in life, if you just keep thinking and reading, you don’t have to work.” The Tao of Charlie Munger by David Clark is a collection of quotes from Berkshire Hathway’s Vice Chairman on Life, Business and the Pursuit of Wealth. Born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1924 Charlie Munger studied mathematics at the University of Michigan, trained as a meteorologist at Cal Tech Pasadena while in the Army, and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School without ever earning an undergraduate degree. Today, Munger is one of America’s most successful investors and Warren Buffett’s business partner for almost forty years. Buffett says “Berkshire has been built to Charlie’s blueprint. Why Ego is the Enemy and You can Make a Start to Defeat it

Why Ego is the Enemy and You can Make a Start to Defeat it

Posted February 21, 2017 by @amanhimself in 5 Stars, Book Reviews, Books, philosophy / 0 Comments

My Rating: 5/5 Words mean things, and when certain words are repeated in certain type of situations they change behaviour and can change the course of how we live. In the book Ego is the Enemy, when Ryan holiday speaks about ‘Ego’, he does not mean the Freudian definition. He is talking about ego in an informal way, the way we used it in our casual conversations. The ego he refers are the unhealthy belief in our own importance, our arrogance, and our self-centred ambition. That desire for recognition, and those excuses we make to ourselves. This is a crucial concept to understand if you are planning to read this book.

BOOK REVIEW: Mastery by Robert Greene

Posted January 12, 2017 by @amanhimself in 5 Stars, Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

For a start, I want you to watch this video: No, I did not watch this video before reading Mastery by Robert Greene book. Though I do watched it after reading the book and it made me read the book again and get deep into it. Malkhaz has elegantly and importantly described the whole 310 pages long book in almost 13 minutes and if you are not going to read this post, at least watch the video. You’ll definitely learn something new. If you decide to read this post, keep in my mind that I’m only writing about this book is because I enjoyed reading it and simply want to share my thoughts on it. I was first introduced to Robert […]
