A Canadian author, Emily Schultz’s debut novel published in 2006 is called Joyland, similarly Stephen King who is believed to be a literary, the author of fifty plus novels in the past thirty years, published a novel called Joyland last year, 2013. Though both the books do not share same genre, it’s still confusing for the King’s fan who have been accidentally purchasing Schultz’s debut and then frustrated and confused, been leaving negative reviews on her Joyland page on Amazon instead, they should be mad about the amazon’s algorithm. But it seems Schultz’s enjoying this and getting a last laugh by a blog called Stephen King Money where she lists the things she’s buying of the money she’s getting out of her Joyland. Her new work […]

TOP TEN TUESDAY: Top Ten books of 2014

Posted June 24, 2014 by @amanhimself in Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

2014 has been a mixed bag year for me in reading. I have read a variety of authors, especially a lot of new authors this time, took non-fiction seriously and some interesting books on recommendations. My challenge to myself to read 100 books this year is on track and so far, as the year comes to half, I have read 49 books. The challenge bar on the goodreads.com tells me that I am “one book ahead of the schedule” which means I am doing well. Thus, here  I am evaluating ten best reads I had so far in the year.   10. Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel Winner of Man Booker Prize 2009, Wolf Hall is amazing story written surrealistically from the POV of […]

JO NESBO to rewrite MACBETH

JO NESBO to rewrite MACBETH

Posted June 13, 2014 by @amanhimself in Books / 0 Comments

It’s a brave challenge for any author. But as part of the Hogarth Shakespeare project, famed Norwegian writer Jo Nesbø has been given the epic task of retelling the classic tragedy of Macbeth in his own style. His new book, The Son, is his first standalone story in a while – having made his name these past 17 years with tough and tortured detective Harry Hole. His break into novels at the ripe age of 37 moved him on from previous incarnations as a footballer, economist and frontman of Norway’s premier rock band Di Derre, propelling him to bestseller status the world over.
