Q. Hello and thank you for agreeing this interview and congratulations on your latest book, ‘Aryavir’. Tell me a little about yourself and your background? I’m an ex advertising person, so I think that explains a lot about my background! Advertising, especially when you spend 20 years in the profession, prepares you for a plethora of different activities, and I gravitated towards writing. Being a naval daughter, I grew up all over India and had varied experiences in different cities, including Moscow where I spent three years and learned to speak Russian.

Q. Hello Lakshmi, and thank you for agreeing this interview and congratulations on your book, ‘Bonsai Kitten ’. Tell me a little about yourself and your background? I must have been a journalist in my mother’s womb. Both my father and grandfather were eminent journalists. In fact, my grandfather ran a paper called The West Coast Reformer, where he was the editor, the cartoonist, the peon … everything! His favourite target was the British collector of the district and he lampooned him mercilessly. Apparently, when he was asked why he didn’t arrest my grandfather, he’s reported to have said, “Because he makes me laugh so much!” When my dad used to go for night duty at the Times of India, […]

BOOK REVIEW: Razor-Sharp Stories by Abhinav Kumar

BOOK REVIEW: Razor-Sharp Stories by Abhinav Kumar

Posted September 2, 2017 by @amanhimself in Book Reviews, Books / 0 Comments

Pages: 166, Kindle Edition Published: August, 2017 Cover Rating: 3/5 A collection of short stories is always hard to analyse for a reader since there is so much context switch in between the stories and the writing style might vary as the stories collected are written over a period of time of months or maybe years. On picking up Abhinav Kumar’s debut work I had similar feelings. I took my time to read them as I felt the urge to read carefully to understand better and enjoy a collection of short stories at the same time. Maybe you might not agree with this point on me, or maybe you do but this one works for me when it comes to short stories.
