Five Books To Read in Gothic Fiction

Gothic Fiction is struggles and conflicts. It may be largely dominated by its sub genre, Gothic horror, but this genre is equally dominated by romanticism. The name Gothic refers to the medieval buildings in which many of these stories take place. This extreme form of romanticism was very popular in England and Germany. I exhibit a list of books down here in this genre I think you should take a look. Frankenstein tells the story of committed science student Victor Frankenstein. Obsessed with discovering the cause of generation and life and bestowing animation upon lifeless matter, Frankenstein assembles a human being from stolen body parts but; upon bringing it to life, he recoils in horror at the creature’s hideousness. Tormented by isolation and loneliness, the […]

Chris McCandless Reading List

Chris McCandless Reading List

Posted July 13, 2015 by @amanhimself in Book List, Books / 12 Comments

Into The Wild gives a beautiful insight in to the life of Chris McCandless. I remember saying almost the same thing when I wrote a review of Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer. I recently read a book recommended by a fellow blogger at the time when I wrote the book, which gives more insight into the life of Chris McCandless, The Wild Truth: The Untold Story of Sibling Survival by Carine McCandless. This book shows another view of Chris’ life. The relationship he had with his parents, his childhood, his relationship with sister and other siblings. At the end of the book I found an image shared by Carine which consisted of the favourite books of Chris McCandless. So I thought, why not share […]

The Best Passages From The Great Gatsby

The Best Passages From The Great Gatsby

Posted June 7, 2015 by @amanhimself in Book List, Books / 20 Comments

I remember reading The Great Gatsby two years back and having an impact on me for days. The story is brilliant and it is written brilliantly too. I also wrote a review of The Great Gatsby at the time. Fitzgerald creates characters and lays out scenes that are vivid, bright and engaging in this book. The outstanding opening of the novel: In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I’ve been turning over in my mind ever since. “Whenever you feel like criticizing any one,” he told me, “just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had. This substantial quote on friendship: Let us learn to show our […]

This year, since June 6 is the last homage for any football fan, yes I am referring to UEFA Champions League Final 2015 between the two most consistent teams this year in Europe: Barcelona and Juventus. Admit it even if you don’t support either of them, June 6 will telecast the last ninety minutes of good football before the summer time gets over. For any football fan spending weekends without seeing the green grass and twenty-two men running after a ball, technically, just twenty as both teams have a goalkeeper each who travels a lesser amount of […]

Five Anthony Trollope Books You Should Read

Posted May 6, 2015 by @amanhimself in Book List, Books / 14 Comments

April 24 marked Anthony Trollope’s 200th birthday. The 19th century english novelist wrote forty seven novels and is famous for details and descriptions of his characters and the scenic settings described in his books. He often been compared to Charles Dickens for that. But I personally think, Anthony Trollope is Trollope and Charles Dickens is Dickens. They are both, two separate writers who write well. Here are five books you should take a look that are written by Anthony Trollope: The Warden The Warden centers on Mr. Harding, a clergyman of great personal integrity who is nevertheless in possession of an income from a charity far in excess of the sum devoted to the purposes of the foundation. On discovering […]

I am representing a book list that might interest you and to keep yourself utilise till then. Published in 1895, collection of short stories by Robert Chambers that became a bestseller on Amazon last year. Why? It is the only literary reference used in True Detective till date.
