CURRENTLY READING

CURRENTLY READING

Currently Reading Books: The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Highly recommended by a friend, after I was disappointed on learning that Game of Thrones next part will not be coming soon. Already on page 145 and it’s quite a book. The style is good, plot and story till now good, not filled with boredom at all. Let’s see, what the rest of the pages unfolds to me. Zen in the Art of Writing by Ray Bradbury is again a recommendation by a fellow writer. I have read just five pages so I cannot really say how is it. But still short in length, light reading, after all it’s Bradbury.   I am always eager to read more and open to recommendations. So what do you […]

How I welcome the winter!

How I welcome the winter!

Ah, the month of November went pretty fast for me. The later half of the month, I still can’t believe it existed. It’s been over a month since I had read something or wrote something(Of Course, except in the examinations). “Examinations! Examinations! Examinations!”, right now it sounds like “Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!” in the voice of Daleks. It was kind of a Dalek-phase I was passing through. I still hope that the time lord will come and will take me back in time, back to the mid of last month. But then I’ll be in the Dalek-phase all over again. And I’ll still be reading text books instead of ‘Real Books’  writing exams instead of poetry. Due to this phase, I feel I will not be able […]

WORLD OF FICTION

WORLD OF FICTION

Posted September 1, 2013 by @amanhimself in Books, MyWorks / 0 Comments

Books are written because an author wants to write and a reader wants to read. Fiction is a most read form of writing and it is the kind of writing that is not factual. In the world of fiction, I am going to concentrate on four aspects of fiction: Flash Fiction, Short Story, Novella, and Micro Fiction. Flash Fiction is small. They are short, short stories. Generally consists of 500 to 750 words. Well, if you think writing that many words is easy for you, think again. If you still think it is easy for you, well try to the limit. In my research a Flash Fiction does not exceed 1,000 words. Short Story which is something between a Flash Fiction and a Novella. I love reading short stories. They […]

THE MYSTERY OF ROBERT GAILBRAITH

THE MYSTERY OF ROBERT GAILBRAITH

Posted July 15, 2013 by @amanhimself in Books / 0 Comments

Creator of the Boy Wizard, Harry Potter, J.K.Rowling has written a crime novel now, The Cuckoo’s Calling, released earlier this year under the pseudonym: Robert Galbraith. Over the years, Rowling often spoke of writing a crime novel. In 2007, during the Edinburgh Book Festival, author Ian Rankin claimed that his wife spotted Rowling “scribbling away” at a detective novel in a cafe. Rankin later retracted the story, claiming it was a joke. The rumour persisted with The Guardian speculating in 2012 that Rowling’s next book would be a crime novel. The story was broken by Richard Brooks, the arts editor of the UK’s Sunday Times. Kate Mills, fiction editor at Orion Publishing, came forward to admit that she had unwittingly turned down the new Rowling work, and suggested that […]

ALE OF BOSNIAN BAR ( A Poem) by Aman Mittal Get drunk, live life Have fun, love your wife If you don’t have one, try somebody else’s Welcome to the Bosnian Bar Try some wine Cheap beer makes you wild Taste some whiskey But don’t get too tipsy Otherwise you’ll end up in trash Smelling of puke and with no cash With no clothes on, in the chilly wind of Bosnia You might get pneumonia Take care of your missus She might get some kisses If not you, then we’ll do Welcome to the Bosnian Bar.

TOP TEN FOR FIRST HALF OF 2013

TOP TEN FOR FIRST HALF OF 2013

Posted July 9, 2013 by @amanhimself in Books, Reviews / 0 Comments

2013, a year it is! It’s been six months since the year started, since those words I started to read written by various authors. Six months time is long and but not enough to read. Still I managed to read thirty one books (till the last month, and yes I keep a log). So far, it has been a great reading year for me and thus I manage to compile a list of my top ten books I have read so far. 1. THE GREAT GATSBY BY SCOTT FITZGERALD I was flattered by the book and the philosophy behind it by Fitzgerald. How this book can be closely related to his private life and the time of 1920s is by reading […]

A LIFE (A Poem)

A LIFE (A Poem)

Posted July 2, 2013 by @amanhimself in MyWorks / 0 Comments

A LIFE (A Poem) by Aman Mittal Touch it, it won’t shrink As an eyeball does Feel it, you can only feel The feelings inside you, Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, Sometime it’s a landscape view Blue stream of water In between the hills Day in, Day out Followed by a bright sun, Sometime it’s a portrait Hanging on a wall No movement and very still A beautiful face Wearing a set of pearls, Else, you cannot drag it Nor can you draw it On a sheet of paper, It has no shadow of it’s own But reckons the one you have Nor it can breathe But breathe with your lungs Nor it can see But see through your eyes Nor it can […]
