Sci-Fi fans I have a new delight for you this time. Dr. Sami Ahmad Khan’s latest book that concerns with an extra-terrestrial race of reptiloids invasion of planet Earth. That too very much close to the place I currently live. (Brownie points to author for that). It is titled as Aliens in Delhi. Fascinating enough for me!

As I mentioned, the storyline starts nearby my home where the invasion is about to start. Since the recent developments in Space Studies and Research especially with planet Mars, ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) of India has come into the picture and so I believe is a great background for this plot to have. Author has credited the organisation in the book. The invasion is not much of hassle as it starts steadily by turning smartphones into gene-tampering weapons and the victims are civillians who are in result turning into alien hybrids. The rest of the novel takes a reader to the journey of science fiction world and how the nature of the invasion and the effort to save mankind is being handle in contemporary India.

The plot is written in third person narrative voice. There are twists and turns here and there since the it also uses the element of changing the scenes or geographically, chapter by chapter, thus representing the element of a thriller. From science fiction point of view, I have to say the storyline is well researched and each block of puzzle fits. The writing style is steady and well paced. The characterisation of the novel is somewhat an interesting point to discuss. There are many characters out of which I want to label “protagonist” but on reaching the end of the book, I dare not to. Yes, this book does lack a protagonist but that is what an interesting thing about it. It does not need one at some times in the storyline.

Due the lack of a single protagonist, I thought few of the events unfolding the action that is necessary to take place and move the plot ahead were similar to dragging elements and weren’t necessary. Nonethless, many science fiction and fantasy fans will argue on that with me all the night. I am not a hardcore Sci-Fi fanboy but I do know basic elements of writing and do enjoy a good written book. Nonetheless, this book is a good match for science fiction and fantasy fandom.

3 out of 5!

Note: I received this book from the author but that doesn’t mean my review is breaking any reviewing rules and I thank them for their effort with all my heart.

  1. Thank you for the honest review. Even though the story technique seems a bit uncommon, you make it sound interesting to writers to learn from this style. They can then decide whether that fits them or not. Well-written review. 🙂
