BOOK REVIEW: Such is Her Life by Reecha Agarwal Goyal

Such is Her Life is the debut work of writer Reecha Goyal published earlier this year. It is a heartwarming collection of thoughts. These thoughts are based mostly on reality and presented to us as a reader in the form of musings. It is as clear and raw as if I, the reader is picking on her brain. Expressed over 184 pages long, the whole concept works well as it contains around 150 musings. The common theme of these musings is the role a woman plays in lives of everyone as a mother, daughter, sister, wife, daughter-in-law, but societal norms do not appreciate all the effort to the life giver herself. I know that the western world has accepted or […]

Gary Vaynerchuk starts by explaining why it is important to create a personal brand and what tools you can use to do so. He briefly shares his own journey about how in his twenties he developed his family’s wine business from $4 million to […]

BOOK REVIEW: Powerful by Patty McCord

BOOK REVIEW: Powerful by Patty McCord

Posted May 17, 2018 by @amanhimself in Book Reviews, Books / 2 Comments

The nature of business in the modern digital and information overload age is ever-changing. The foundation of Patty McCord’s book Powerful – Building a Culture of Freedom and Responsibility is that the as workplace progress, so should human resources. The author challenges the old, traditional corporate HR that include annual performance reviews, retention plans, engagement programs, etc. She clearly speaks her mind in the early chapters that these activities and actions are a mere waste of time and resources and why the modern day companies, irrespective of their number of employees should not practice them. I liked this ideology. I feel this is the most positive point in the book. All that corporate mumbo-jumbo is a distraction and I have […]

BOOK REVIEW: Before You Start Up by Pankaj Goyal

BOOK REVIEW: Before You Start Up by Pankaj Goyal

Posted April 20, 2018 by @amanhimself in Books, Non-Fiction / 1 Comment

The debut novel of Pankaj Goyal, Before You Start Up is about preparing for the life of an entrepreneur. This book offers insight on more than having an idea, evaluating it, the financial hurdle, and other pragmatic steps of launching your own product or a service company. It is a business book that I recommend especially to someone who might have doubts in their mind about the journey. Doubts are not at all like holes in the brain cells. They are an essential part of a critical thinking process. But they often lead to low creativity levels. I urge not to dwell in them much. Instead, read this book. The first 50 pages of this book are highly critical. The […]

BOOK REVIEW: Treasure Trove of Zodiacs by Tanuj Lalchandani

I am among those who are unable to find any consistent logic behind astrology. Yet, an individual who has mastered the art of it can build correct predictions about someone’s characteristic traits on the basis of their zodiac signs. Treasure Trove of Zodiacs is the debut work of Tanuj Lalchandani. Written in-depth about each zodiac sign this book does an excellent job of explaining things to a novice. The book talks about the personality traits of a person, their behavior, a little light on what kind of careers, in general, she or he might like, suggestions on relationships and how to overcome negative vibes such that one can make peace with himself. The artwork used as illustrations is amazing. I […]

BOOK REVIEW: Maps are Lines We Draw by Allison Coffelt

Posted March 20, 2018 by @amanhimself in Book Reviews, Books / 0 Comments

Maps are Lines We Draw is Allison Coffelt’s travel memoir. The book that is actually a novella, deciphers the culture of Haiti. I picked this book because of the cover and the title mainly. They both compliment each other and is a good attraction. Little did I know of Allison’s writing style at that time.
